Citizens to Defend the Bill of Rights Banquet
The commitee, Citizens to Defend the Bill of Rights, honored Soul Queen, Helen Maybell Anglin, with the presentation of a newly created,
distingushed award, named for herself and her late husband, Frank Anglin Sr.
 Their banquet ceremony was held in the private dining room of the beautiful
Soul Queen Restaurant last October 24th. The first honorees to recieve The
Frank Anglin and Helen Maybell Anglin Award for outstanding service to the
community were: the highly acclaimed veteran civil rights activist, Timuel
Black; Dynamic Radio Commentator and Talk Show Host, Cliff Kelly; and the
formidable opponent of injustice everywhere, Mrs. Jacqueline Jackson
(accepting for her was the renouned, Rev. Willie Barrows).

Soul Queen Honored at the PUSH 30th Anniversary Gala

"Save the Children" was the theme of the evening and has been the theme for three decades of PUSH works. October 19th at the DuSable Museum of African American History, the attire was for costumes of the 70s. Afros, afro pics, Dashekis, Freedom wear, and platform shoes dominated the event and set a tone for remembering the mood of an era that continues. Among the honorees were Al Boutee, Sirrillo McSween, Al Johnson, and a distingushed group of other "warriors in the struggle for human dignity."
Earnest Allen Retirement Concert - April 8, 2002
The Soul Queen gave a rousing concert for virtuoso Dr. Ernest Allen at his 50th anniversary retirement celebration. Dr. Allen is honored because of his meritorious contributions to Gospel music. The Queen became a student less than five years ago at age 68. She has continued to develope her piano skills under his guidance and plays for him because, "He's Still Here."
